TAT and Tuniu signed an agreement to boost tourism between Thailand and China for the upcoming 50th diplomatic anniversary, focusing on digital innovation and enhancing visitor experiences.
Strengthening Thai-Chinese Tourism Cooperation
In a move to enhance tourism cooperation between Thailand and China, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has signed a ‘Letter of Intent’ (LOI) with Nanjing Tuniu International Travel Service Co., Ltd (Tuniu), a leading Chinese online travel service provider. The agreement, aimed at boosting tourism in preparation for the 50th Thailand-China diplomatic anniversary, was signed at TAT’s Head Office by TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool and Tuniu CEO Mr. Yu Dunde.
Boosting Tourism for Diplomatic Milestone
The collaboration between TAT and Tuniu is crucial as both countries approach the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025. The agreement focuses on increasing Chinese tourist arrivals through initiatives like the Thailand-China mutual visa exemption and strategic marketing campaigns. With over 4.5 million Chinese visitors already recorded this year, the target is to reach 7.3 million visitors, fostering closer ties between the two nations.
Enhancing Digital Innovation and Visitor Experience
The LOI between TAT and Tuniu outlines plans for cooperation in data sharing, promotion, and communication, with a particular focus on digital innovation to improve the overall visitor experience. By streamlining travel for Chinese tourists and boosting Thailand’s digital economy, the collaboration aims to offer quality travel experiences that contribute to economic growth. This partnership builds on past collaborations in health and wellness tourism, summer camps, and tour package promotions.
